Aug 31, 2020 - National Park Ride - Laramia WY to Red Lodge, MT

BRRRRRR....this morning I woke up and it said 37,,,, but by the time we left is was 45.  LOL  such a big difference.  HA HA.

Forgot to say last night we got up to elevation 7100 feet.

Ok every one, gear up.

OK all ready , lets roll.

Oops, no cold gear for Jerry.  Hang in the buddy.

Well no corn today.  It was very open and mostly saw fence and power lines.

We saw lots of these like there was a ranch but there was nothing around for miles.  This one had an American flag.  Pretty neat.
One thing Ron forgot to consider were the gas stations between location on the route he set up.  Some of the towns are pretty far apart and motorcycles only carry 5-6 gallons. This small town had only one station and was only 85 octane...
This was Medicine Bow WY ,population 284.

These fences looked like they were randomly put in the middle of the fields and they are all over the place.  Sorry kind of blurry pics.  Ron said these were to help keep the snow drifts from the road.

Yeah a little more hills.  And no corn....

A little fun.  This is about the only time we had sun all day.  Most of the day was pretty gray.  We had a few drops rain but stayed dry.  Courtney and I had to add another layer.  Courtney was up to 7 layers, I think I had six.  Anything to stay warm.

Saw horses,
antelope,...

Interesting sign....

These were from between Casper and Thermopolis WY.

Another little mom and pop place.  Pretty good.

Few mule deer in this field.

Coming into Cody WY we had about a 10 minute wait.  Lots of construction on these 2 lane roads.

Worth the wait..... this was beautiful...

We just crossed into Montana.... WHAT....more corn!!
Few white tail deer as we come in to Red Lodge MT.  Our destination for the day.
For those that followed my blog on The Run for the Wall, this look just like Williams.

Saw this guy in a front yard.

Showed this pic to Kelsey and Matt, said if there was no deer crossing sign he was j-walking.
Matt said that was ok, he knew someone that could make one....hahaha

Aug 30, 2020 - National Park Ride - Des Moine, IA to Laramie, WY

Today started out at 57 degrees and a beautiful sky. And Jerry is ready in his spot for the day.

Soooo... go figure..... more corn and lots of wind.

After about 100 miles we get into Nebraska.  Hoping the landscape will change.  No luck.
454 miles of corn, some soybean, and very few cows.
BUT......lots of wind.

Got a pic of Ron and Courtney.  If you look at Courtney, it looks like she gained 30 pounds in 2 days.
Our view ALLLLL day.
By midway thru Nebraska, Temps got up to 100 degrees!!!  Seriously!!!
Many of the fields had these sprinkler and they were running.  We could really tell the difference with those that used it and those that did not.
Cows here are 95% Black Angus.  I feel so sorry for all them. It was so hot.

As we get closer to Wyoming there is not so much corn but looks more like dessert.

Yeah finally out of Nebraska.  Maybe we will hits some hills.
All along in Nebraska, we had wind from the south (our left), all of a sudden we got very strong wind from the north.  What the heck???   Now we will have wipe lash from both sides.
Larry has been watching the weather radar all day.  We over cast much of the day so always a change for rain.  We got about 15 drop and that was it for the day.
We stopped about an hour out from our final destination of Laramie WY.  It was 91,and with in about 25 minutes into the ride it must have dropped 15 degrees.  Courtney and I were freezing by the time we hit Laramie. We did not want to stop because we wanted be done for the day and did not want another delay.  It was 74 degrees and so windy there were warning of 40 MPH winds on the Artimis signs.  Check out Ron's bike.

BUT..... we did catch site of the foot hills of the Rookies.

Sitting here typing this, I can hear to wind howling.  Cannot wait until tomorrow!!!
Temps are supposed to be 45 in the morning.  Not sure we all brought the right clothes but we can layer.

Total Miles: 682

Temps: 57-100

Route: I80  (all the way across Nebraska)

Destination: Laramie WY

If you have ever been on a houseboat for several day, then get to dry land, for about a day after your trip you feel like you are still rocking.  As I sit and write this, I am still rocking.  :-)
