May 11, 2017 - Day 2 to CA

Well today was a little of the same as yesterday with the sun BUT we did get rain.

Temp were at 72 but windy.  Jenny had a good idea to go down Beale Street before we leave to see what it was like with no bikes.  Thanks Jenny. Good idea.

Sun Studios is where Elvis recorded when he started his career.  "... when Presley walked into Sun Records for the first time, he was a household name only in his own household."

Heading down Beale Street the next day.  Things we did not see last night. Check out the Flag.
Not much going on but saw several street sweeper.

Look at the gray structure on the left.  It is holding up the front of what looks like a very old building.  Sorry did not get any info on it but was pretty need to see (if you double click you will see full pic)

BB Kings the next day

As we head to the boarder of Arkansas and over the Mississippi , these flags were waving to us.
Have to get a pic of the Bass Pro Shop.  Jenny was telling us it used to be a basketball area, now one of the biggest Bass Pro Shops.

Bridge over the GREAT Mississippi River into Arkansas
River is up and muddy.  Was still a little foggy as we crossed

Lots of flooding. Not too far from being on the road.

Then we came across this field with the water system... doubt they will need this anytime soon.

Check out the lines of dirt in the next several pictures.   They are not straight and we saw them for about 20+ miles.  Almost every field had them.  Still trying to get an explanation on this.  Anyone know, email me ๐Ÿ˜

Look at these lovely PINK wheels.  Jenny said she was going to paint Ken's this way.  Ken did not like the idea too well.  LOL
 Ron and Brian
 Ron
 Beautiful weather, great temps, sun...

Then can the rain.  stopped for lunch and geared up. UGH!!

 This lasted about 40 miles

Sun trying to come thru.  As we are all drying out from the rain, Brian asks Ken to pull over, he thinks he may have lost his phone.   He gets off the bike and check in his rain suit by his ankle.  And believe it or not, it stopped in the rain suit.  Good thing someone made sure the ankle strap was tight.  You are welcome  Brian ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
Beautiful again. check out the clouds. It was very windy the rest of the day. Lots of leaning into the wind and getting moved around a bit.  Surprised I do not have whip lash. Thought is was going to pull my helmet off a few times.   My neck will be sore in the morning.

OUCH!!   look at this.  As we are getting into Oklahoma City, we were facing some nasty rain and hail.  Time to stop for the night.  We were going to try and make it to Weatherford (another 60 miles) but had to go thru some red cells (nasty winds, rain, hail). Found out that a few of the guys also going on the Run, made it into Weatherford, were there about 10 minutes and had lots of Hail.  Good call team for not heading that far.  THANKS to weather radar on the cell phones.

With all the wind we had today, it made for a nice pic of the American flag.

Summary:
Temp: 72- 80-68(during the rain) - 82
Total Miles: 478 (because of the rain today, it will be long day tomorrow as long as weather holds up)
Route: I 40
Mostly sun, little rain and dodged a big storm
