This flag was the first thing we saw as we got started. Saying "Good Morning", have a great day.
Lots of farm land, flat and cattle. As I ride thru Oklahoma, you see lots of farms. Think about how much work the farmer does for us. Whether it is cattle, corn, wheat,..... they feed us. Look at the pics and see how much open land there is.
Interesting see the white specs. Those are birds. There were more birds the cows in this field
Anyone that rides a motorcycle, knows that you are always taking in the smells: honeysuckle, someone grilling, fresh cut grass.... then there are those you care not to remember. Ron and Jenny not one of the better ones LOL
As we travel, sometimes there are lot of miles between gas stations. Ken found this on on GPS. Very interesting: one pump. Reminds you of being back in the 60's. Original souvenir shop. It had everything.
Sign says "Beware of Deputy Dawg" . Also found out the the hotel there has rooms for $39 a night.
As we had out to Carson, Larry sees a sign: "Next 9 miles , High Wind Currents". That was an understatement. Oh My GOSH. Great place for the wind farms. We saw LOTS of them, 100s.
If you double click on this, you will see this team is working on putting up one of the blades.
They are huge.
I found this interesting. Look at the size of this tractor.
Ron and Brian practicing riding side by side. This is how we run on the Run.
We have made a stop to the Cadillac Ranch. Check out the Caddies buried!!!
Cadillac Ranch is not a ranch but a
public art installation and sculpture in Amarillo, Texas, USA. It was
created in 1974 by Chip
Lord, Hudson
Marquez and Doug
Michels, who were a part of the art group Ant
Farm. It consists of what were (when originally installed during
1974) either older running used or junk Cadillac automobiles,
representing a number of evolutions of the car line (most notably the birth and
death of the defining feature of mid twentieth century Cadillacs: the tailfins) from 1949 to 1963, half-buried nose-first in the ground, at
an angle corresponding to that of the pyramids.
Yes those are Cadillac cars sticking out of the ground.
Every one that stops by has to put their mark them with paint. People from all over stop to see this.
Met this young man as we were walking around. He is walking coast to coast creating a documentary. He has been on road 8 months and 17 days, and started in New Jersey. WOW!
RFTW '17. I think the paint is what is keeping them still together.
Next Stop: Mid Point Cafe. Many of you have heard of Route 66. This cafe is exactly the 1/2 point.
Interesting Fact: Oldman County has a population of 2054 and there are over 28,000 cows.
Trivia: U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway, the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. US 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in the United States, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.
Next we head into New Mexico. We go from green fields to some of the most beautiful country. The pics do not come close to showing the beauty. Blue, Blue skies and White puffy clouds!

As we head into Gallup NM, sun is going down. This was pretty cool looking.
