Sep 5, 2020 - National Park Ride - Walden CO To Broomfield CO

We had yet another gorgeous day!!  Started out as usual 45 but quickly warmed up.  Leaving Walden:

As we headed into Routt National Forest the trees again got hit by the Beetles.  UGH...
Still great roads to ride.

We head now up to Rocky Mountain National Park and go past Grant Lake.  Soo pretty

As we get to the Visitors Center, we find out it is closed.  Seems you needed to get a permit to ride into the park. They were only allowing 65% of their normal capacity.
No worries there are plenty of great roads to ride.
Fall is coming and here are some of their colors.

We head up in elevation to about 2.1 miles.  Enjoy the ride. Lots of pics

I then notice there is like a break of the tree line to the top of the mountain. We were on our way to over 2 miles.
Google:
In Colorado tree line is at around 11,000 to 12,000 feet.

Looks like we painted to the background.

Oh NO!!!   where is the road?

In these next 2 pics ,check out the cars going up the mountain.  This was for about 10-12 miles.  Sure glad we were going the other way. Temps were  in the mid 90s.

Clear Creek River ran along the road.

End up in Golden CO.  This is where to Coors manufacture facility is.  Unfortunately, because of Covid there are no tours, but we stopped for lunch.   Getting warmer.

Can see the plant from town.

Continue down the mountain. Check out this sign.
We had lots of 180 degree turns.

Stopped in Nederland for Ice Cream.  Little mom and pop place and he said "thanks for finding us and stopping in".

Look at the clouds below to white puff clouds.  We believe this smoke from some of the forest fires in Colorado.

Had dinner with a few friends from the Run For The Wall.  It was great to getting caught up.
We will be riding with them tomorrow.

Total Miles: 270
Temps: 47-100
