Today was a very interesting day. We met up with Dan and Kay, friends of ours from the Run For The Wall. Along with some of there friends from Broomfield, we had a great ride.
We were not far from their house and we smelled smoke. The fires in Colorado forest left the sky hazy.
At times is was clear .....
Then as we reached Carter Lake... it was hazy again but still beautiful.Bev.... Larry said this house had a steeper driveway that your place at Norris. LOL
Check out the sky.... you can see the smoke
Look in the middle of this pic there is a rock climber.
We are trying to head to the town of Rustic and had to turn around. Road was closed. Talking to the guys, towns were warned when the fire was getting with in 15 miles. At 7 miles they needed to evacuate. This is what was going on in Rustic. This is a town of about 25-30 people.
River along the ride was really pretty. Pics not too clear. Smoke was starting to get thick.
Here is where we had lunch. Great location on the river.
Bike was on a little slope. You go girls!!!!
Heading back and we stop at this little shop. So COOL!!!!
Dan on a really old motorcycle
Larry found a coffee cup for Courtney. Courtney, you think this will give you enough coffee in the morning??Here are some of the signs....
Here is the one I liked best...
Heading out .... the smoke got thicker and thicker... Good thing we had full helmets.
This is the sun..... Hard to tell but is was bright red.
Courtney did this. Look at the difference between when we left and when we got back to Dan and Kay's.
Had dinner. Thanks Dan and Kay for a great evening. Check out their cars. All the ash on them. They said this is the worst it has been. I think the fires have been burning about 6 weeks. And they are about 30 miles away but the wind was blowing a lot this evening.
Miles 172
Temps; 75-95
