May 8, 2022 - Day 2 to Ontario
We woke up this morning and there is rain. BUT there was a huge rain cell that had just passed thru at 5:30 this morning. Again, not too exciting of a day riding thru the middle states. It is flat and boring BUT we had blue skies. As we leave the hotel, it does not look too good.
But several miles down the road we get this.
Here is Ron.
For several miles there are crews working on the train tracks replacing the railroad ties.
Check out the last vehicle on the tracks...... they carry their own port-o-let, hahahaha
Normally when we go out to Ontario, we travel I-70. Today we rode US-50. The wind did not seem as bad, but Kansas is still windy. This is my view for the day. It was nice going thru lots of little towns.
Lots of color.
We went thru a little town called Dodge City. Reminds me of an old TV show: Gunsmoke.
Many of you reading this will have no idea what I am talking about.
On a motorcycle, smells are much stronger.
Along US 50 we saw at least 5 of these slaughterhouses. Smells were so nice. :-)
Thousands of cows.
As you can see there is not much to talk about.
Since US50 is only a single lane, we did have to play "leapfrog" with semis.
Nice is that there were lots of passing lanes.
Last 15 miles before we reach our destination for the night, a few clouds show up.
Made for some pretty cool pics.
Tomorrow we will be riding thru Colorado. This is a beautiful state.
Cannot wait to show you some more of our beautiful country.
Destination: Lamar, CO
Temps: 62-84
Route: I-70, I-470, I-435, US-50
Total Miles: 615
Running on US 50
