May 9, 2025 - Day 6 to Ontario

This was another beautiful day.   We took it slow and enjoyed the country.  Starting next Wednesday, the Run will be a crazy time. Enjoy the pics.

We went back to Lake Powell and drove to an overlook area. It showed more of the lake.

OK boys let's hit the road for the day

We stopped at the Navajo Bridge.  This spans the Colorado River.  It is a pair of bridges.

We also found out that the California Condor is an endangered bird.  We talked to a lady while on the bridge who was taking pictures of the birds near the bridge.  I got a few pics.

This one even has a number one it "V7".  Pretty cool.

I got very lucky and caught one in flight.
If you get a few minutes this is pretty interesting stating there were only 22 birds left in the 1980s.

Next we head into Vermillion Cliffs National Monuments

Petty wild how these rocks ended up.

Next stop, Kaibab National Forest. We ended up over7900 feet.

For miles you see the trees are burnt. It is amazing that many of the trees have new needles on them AND there are new trees below them.
Nature definitely has a way to keep going.

We wanted to go to Jacobs Lake which is at the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
Problem is that it is not open until May 15.  So we stopped at Jacob Lake Inn.  We were going to head down the road when we saw a couple with a big box.  The guys made a comment that is was nice of them to get us lunch.  And they said "oh NO... these are cookies".  They stop here when visiting family.  They said they have the best cookies AND great chocolate shakes.
SO we decided to go in and have a look.
Pretty nice so we decided to stay for lunch.

Remember these???

Ron gets a pic of Larry getting my pic.  Never a dull moment with these guys.

Check out this shake.
The waitress told us it was pretty big so Ron and I split one.
WOW!!!

 Really good.

Back on the road.

Another color in the rocks  There is red.  Looks like patches

I saw this truck on the side of the road.  It reminds us of why we are on this trip. It says
"Saluting All Service Members, Past and Present."
What a great picture on the side.

Next we saw a herd of buffalo.  Pretty good size.

One of my favorite pics of the day.

Next stop, we rode thru Zion National Park. I am now riding with Ron.
These mountains have lines on them.  Also a little different than what we have seen

You have seen lots of pics of Ron in front of us. Here is Larry behind us.

Next we saw a few cars stopped and pointed up the mountain.  2 Sheep.
How in the world did they get there???

We were going down the road and traffic stopped before the tunnel.  It's so strange.  Turns out that the camper in front of us is at least 13 feet and needs to go thru the tunnel in the middle.  So all traffic stops coming to us so this camper can get thru.

The last part of the day, we are on are switchbacks down the mountain. Nice riding.
Check out the arch on the mountain side.
Look at the road below.  This is where we will be riding.

Jerry is out of his rain suit and loved the ride today.
He did say it got a bit warm. Up to 91 today.

Hope you enjoyed the ride. We did.
