August 10, 2025 - Georgetown Lake, MA to Pullman, WA

August 10, 2025 - Georgetown Lake, MA to Pullman, WA

Started out at 44 degrees. Gear up.

Dan and Lisa-Kay say good-bye.  THANKS so much for a great day.

Leave Georgetown Lake.  Love the mirror image.

As we head out of Anaconda, Dan suggested an alternate route.
We stay off the highway.

We will be riding on Chief Joseph Pass, Lolo Pass and along Bitterroot Mountains.

First site is several field of burnt trees. Lots of field like this, but they always bounce back.

We get past that and guess what.... there are blue skies today.

One thing I noticed is there are a lot of horse in Montana.
Beautiful animals (I am a little partial to them).

Stopped for lunch at Lolo Hot Springs for lunch.

Yeah, we hit Idaho.  We are getting closer to Washington.

We are now on the Lolo pass.  This is a 99 mile route that is absolutely beautiful
It runs along the Lochsa River on St Rt 12.
I took soooo many pics.

I suggested we stop and put out feet in the river.
This road does not have many pull over so Ron found one
but...to get to the river we a little steep...

...it was well worth it.
Be careful Larry it is slick.

He made it.

Look how clear this it and it is REALLY cold.

Ron having fun in the water.  Looks like he has angel wings..... NOT... well maybe.

Careful Ron.

Sooo CLEAR

Ron stands in the middle of the empty road... Look out Ron.

Larry stands by the extended road poles... prepared for the snow so they can find the road.

Larry made a comment "The girls are dirty."
 Boy,....is that an understatement.

Back on the road.

We end the 99 miles and stop in Kooskia IA.
It is now 100 degrees.
Time for something to drink.

So far, we have seen the pine trees along the Lochsa River.
This river dumps into Middle Fork Clear Water River.
The terrain along the river changes drastically.

No trees.

During this route, we hit some shade.  With the temps so high this was great.
As we turn off the road next to the river, we cross into Washington!!!
Yeah one state left for our 50 states.

We see miles and miles of wheat fields.
This is just as huge as on the corn fields in the central states.
Farmers are so important, and it is amazing what they do in these massive field to harvest them.

These fields are right up to the edge of road (unlike the corn fields).

This takes us into Pullman WA.  Ready for another day tomorrow.

Destination: Pullman, WA
Miles: 425
Temps: 44-100
Route: Rt1, MT 569, MT43, St Rt 93, St Rt 12w, I 95 to St Rt 195
