August 9, 2025 - Georgetown, MT

 August 9, 2025 - Georgetown, MT

What a gorgeous day.  We stayed with Dan and Lisa-Kay at Georgetown Lake. Great family and what a great day.  We spent it hiking.  More lakes but also beautiful country.  It was 42 when we got up and was in the 55-65 temps all day. Perfect for hiking.

Road up to the hiking trails was rough and a slow go but will worth it. I hope you like the pics. Still cloudy on the day but toward the end the blue sky came out.

We park by Storm Lake.
The peak right above Larry's head is where Dan proposed to Lisa-Kay.
Wait until you see how steep it is.

Water is so clear like glass.

Some of the walking up the mountain can get a little tough especially if you are not used to the altitude.  Dan set the pace but he also had another way to get your mind off the travel.  He had a few little  riddles that in order to get the answers you could only ask Yes/No questions.  Here goes:

1.Martha and George are found dead in the living room.  How did they die.

2. There are 32 White horses.  First chomp then slide then they are still. What is it?

3. Person crossing street.  There is no moon no stars no  lights. A black car is coming down the road, no sound no lights. The person jumps out of the way just in time. How did he know to step back?

If you look at the dip in this mountain, this is our destination.  I said "WHAT?"
Oh my gosh.  It was a little over 2 miles.

This is about 1/2 way up .

As we walk the trail, Allie, one of their dogs, always goes ahead and waits for us.

So funny , head is always turned as if to say "Are you coming?  Let's go".

Getting closer

Made it to the top.

The lake in the front is Storm Lake (where we started).
The one back left is Georgetown Lake.

This is the peak where he proposed. If you look real close, there are people walking up.
They are right in the middle of the hill.
This is very high and STEEP.

Dan, Lisa-Kay, Larry, Jean

Heading down there are 9 switch-backs.  Tough on the legs.
I am sure our legs will feel this tomorrow.

If you see all the logs in the water, this is from snow avalanches that happen in the spring.

It is a slow go back down at about 10 mph.

Headed out to dinner and found out it was Lisa-Kay's birthday.
What beautiful sky for her and all as we end a fantastic day.

I was getting ready to start the blog and Larry said,  "Check out the moon!"
Dan said "Definitely blog material!"

Back on the road tomorrow.
