August 8,2025 - Valier, MT to Georgetown Lake, MT

August 8,2025 - Valier, MT to Georgetown Lake, MT

The day started out on the cool side, 52.  Here is our hotel.

Heading out was a little cloudy

Layer up.  We are looking at 40 degrees at the top.

There are 2 lakes in the park.  This is St. Mary Lake.

The white trees were from fire.
Nice that they were there because we could see the lake.

Lots of fog to get started.

As we get higher, it got thicker.

Few waterfalls.

We cross the continental divide and headed down the mountain.
At the bottom we a stream.

We all had to feel the water.  CLEAR and VERY COLD.

Lake McDonald is the lake at the other side.
This lake is 10 miles long and almost 500 feet deep.

We leave the park and now ride past Flathead Lake.  This is huge and beautiful.

Fun Fact: Flathead Lake in Montana covers approximately 197 square miles (510 square kilometers) and is about 28 miles long and 15 miles wide. It is the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States.

Last stop of the day is heading to Georgetown Lake
where we will be staying with family members from RFTW.

This is a little different terrain.  Trees spot the mountains.

We now get to the 4th lake of the day.  ALL beautiful.
It was a shame it was cloudy all day.
