May 13, 2019 - In Ontario

Day 2 in Ontario.  Beautiful day with the sun shining.
Temp 65-75.

Several of the participants going cross country will camp.  Here is a group from KY.
Craig next to his tent.  It is pretty cool in that it is a cot with a tent on top.  Everything has  to be very compact to fit on the bikes so these work out great.
Hydration team starts loading up the trailer. The bed of the trailer is full of cases of water.
Checkout this stack of Gatorade.  And they may have to get more as the trip goes on.
Tanker is one of out platoon leaders.  If you notice the banner on his bike, it says "Platoon Leader".  Everyone that has a role will get one.  I will get getting a little more details tomorrow.
Several people are standing around telling stories during our breaks.  Ron, Gunny, Jean and Little Big Mike.  Mike had some great stories.  Loved to listen to him.  He served in Vietnam in the Marines.  Mike lost his legs but this never let it stop him.  He Coached his kids and is very active.  He even plays golf.
2 great stories:
He also umpired fast pitch softball.  He would have a meeting at the beginning of the games with the coaches.  He wanted no arguing with the Umpires so he set the ground rules right away.   Then he would say to them. " I am only 4 feet 3 and anything over my head will be a ball.  We all agree? " Everyone would get a good laugh.  I am sure this relaxed everyone.
He then talked about a golf outing he was in. On hole 5 it was a par 3.  He was about ready to tee off and Arnold Palmer comes up.  He is going to be the 5th in their foursome.  WOW!  So he proceeds to hit the ball and it went about 6 feet off the ground about 75 yards.  Ooops a worm burner... He looked at Arnold and said "well I am at least closer to the pin then before it hit."
Such a great attitude on life.  He laughs a lot and has lots of stories to tell.  And very proud to have served our country.
I walked around and saw a few bikes with neat paint jobs.  Check these out.

In the lobby, is a map of the US.  It shows the 3 routes.  It is kind of hard to see but there are pins in it showing where people are from.  We even have pins in Alaska and Hawaii.
Barry and Devine are part of Registration and the platoon assignment team.  It has been a very hectic 2 days.  Everyone must register. Central Route was over 300 today.  And they still have tomorrow.

We still have people pulling in after long journeys to get to Ontario.  Keep the thoughts and prayers coming.  One day left be for we ride.

WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T.
