May 10, 2022 – Day 4 to Ontario
Wow what a wild day. It was spectacular!!
As we head out of Montrose and into Delta, Larry starts laughing. What is so funny? He read a sign:
I want to grow my own food,
but cannot find taco seeds.
The day begins….ha ha ha
Look at the view these houses have in their backyard.
Our friend is back…. the wind. As we ride thru the canyons it is good but once you get to any flat land the wind is so bad it wears out!!!
We head out to some of the most beautiful terrain. All day there are so many different formations.
First area is Uncompahgre National forest. There will be lots of pics. Hope you enjoy them.
Lots of bikers thru this park. Lots of miles and not many places to stop. Better have water.
This part also had lots of huge boulders spaced far apart.
We had cloud cover most of the morning. Then we started to see blue skis.
This was a nice break. We stopped here last year and met several vets. This year we met Jeff. He is retired and bought 35 acres right down the road. He was very interesting to talk to. Many years ago he lived in Florida, had some issues there and just started to walk. Kind of like Forrest Gump that just started running. He walked from Florida to the state of Washington, to California, and back home to New Hampshire. He also walked to Michigan and other places. In total he did this for 3.5 years. He has settled to live in the canyon and rides a dirt bike all over. He also mentioned he sees elk in his fields. Not just a few but hundreds. WOW!!!
Let’s continue the ride.
There are a lot of houses out here far away from anyone. And they are 20-30 miles from any store, gas stations, hospitals……They have to really love this life.
We stopped at a scenic photo op. Spectacular!!!!!
There are 2 cars at the bottom here
.
Here is it zoomed in. Larry and Ron spotted it
Yet another type formation.
Love the snow capped mountain in the distance.
More colors
Crossed into Utah.
We have to check on Jerry every once in a while. He is still hanging with us.
These pics will give you an idea of how big some of these formations are. Look at the car at the front of the rock.
Entering Arches National Park.
Took us over 30 minutes to get in. You have to go online and request a time for entry. This was the 2:00 slot
This is Balanced Rock. Pretty wild. Looks like at any minute it will fall.
That is me. Give you an idea how big they are.
One way into the park and one way out. Nice zig zag road, right?
We leave Arches and head to Green River UT for the night. As we leave dinner there is a nice sunset over Green River.
I know this may be overload on the pics but you should see how many I took. The vastness and the beauty of this country is incredible.
Destination: Green River UT
Temps: 57-74
Route: US 550/50, CO 141, CO90/UT48, US191, I70
Miles: 307
Continue to keep the riders in your thoughts. Many are heading to Ontario.
