May 15, 2022 – In Ontario
Yesterday Courtney arrived. She is Ron’s Daughter. She will be riding all the way. This is her second time going all the way and 4th time riding for RFTW.
Today was pretty much a down day. We did a little sightseeing. We needed to get gas before we left…. YIKES!!! Check out the prices.
Look at Courtney’s shirt…
Here is the real shirt…. pretty funny..
Rode down Hollywood Blvd’s Walk of Fame. It was a little depressing as it had lots of homeless living there for about 7-8 blocks. Then as we got closer to Beverly Hills it was pretty nice.
Fun facts:
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a historic landmark which consists of more than 2,700 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard
Here is an example for those that have never been.
Heading into Beverly Hills.
Not sure what this was but it looks like a guy with a lot of empty left over or take out boxes… pretty funny
Now onto Santa Monica Pier. Lunch at Bubba Gumps
Famous Ferris Wheel
We walked the boardwalk and you just never know what you will see….
Guys kind of flying from ring to ring. Crazy the strength he needed.
Sand volleyball….
Walking on a rope……and the list goes on…. very interesting place.
I was talking to my mom last night and she said that I had to put my feet in the water. OK Courtney, let’s go…
Next we head to Route 1 up to Malibu. We have heard how beautiful it is. Thought it would be great to ride along the coast. That was a great idea in theory but there were houses so close you could not even see the ocean. And the amount of cars was crazy. Caught a few pics of it.
Got one pretty nice pic on the way back…
We reconnected with a lot of Run Family when we got back. It was so good to see everyone.
Here are a few.
This is Todd and his Son Stephen. Todd will be the platoon leader for Platoon 5.
This is Boilermaker and Rich Boy. Rich Boy comes all the way from Hawaii..
Larry is enjoying the evening now that he is off the bike….
Kay and Dan were our hosts in Denver, they are ready to roll.
His license caught Larry’s eye. It is the same plate he has on his mustang…
Tomorrow we start the meeting for all the teams. This is a totally volunteer organization. I will explain a little more on what it takes to get 400+ motorcycles moving smoothly. The thousands of hours of manpower given to make this possible is incredible to be around.
WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T
AND WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THEY ARE ALL BOUGHT HOME.
Temps 58-77
Miles: 178
